I was in Murfreesboro town square today & noticed there are what I assume is fruit falling all over. They are about the size of a persimmon with a fleshy transparent blue outside & a nut inside that crunches when you walk on them. They look as if they would be delicious to wildlife. Has anyone seen them or know what they might be?

I am ot sure if anything eats them. I have never seen one where there is any wildlife around to observe.

Assuming they are gingko, they are ornamental trees transplanted from China - I doubt you are going to have an opportunity to see lots of them in the woods.

I'm not sure of their reproductive capacity - it might be a bad idea to plant them where they aren't tightly controlled. You might research that a bit.

ginkgo fruit smells like pure, fresh, poo.....

they are cool trees though. Like persimmons there are separate male and female trees. Never seen one in the wild, only ornamental.
