Climb as high as you want buddy. You put 2 deer down in there tracks and thats all that matters. You had to be tired getting up and down tho not that tiring really, just took longer. Hauling the two deer out was the tiring part.
I get nervous after 15'. Cool to see that you could do it. Congrats on your deer, you are on a roll! I hope to get my 2nd of the year/ever this week around Percy Priest. What would you have done if you fell out and were hanging from the tree at 50'? if I fell I wouldn't have hung much below the stand and could have easily climbed back onto it. Definitely a bit more risky being up so high but I felt pretty safe strapped in and I ain't too scared of heights either. Next time ill probably top out at 30 ft or less just so I can shoot under the canopy better.

I guess I would just be concerned that the stand would fall too and I would be hanging way up there. I guess if I could I would wrap around the tree and try to shimmy down a little at a time.

I thought the same thing, I am in pretty good shape so I think I could handle it, although it is not something I would ever want to do, and hope I don't have to. The stand is tied together with a rope so if the bottom falls it won't fall far and I can pull it back up. I don't see it very likely that the entire climber would just drop.

Keep in mind folks, he is still just a kid with plenty to learn. If he lives, he'll come around.

Now that is a climb! nice shootin! What kind of camera/attachment do you use with your rifle? Do you have a set-up for your bow too. I've been kicking around the idea of a bow or tree mounted camera to capture the hunt.

I cant believe so many people are whining about how high HE is hunting! He said in the original post his harness was hooked from the ground up. 25 ft up a tree or 50 ft up a tree, whats the difference if you fall? I too have had places that required I be 40+ ft to get the full advantage from a standsight. and I never thought a thing about it! To each his own, if he was doing this without a harness, at any height, it would not be wise, but not everybody is afraid of heights! And for those who said it makes things more difficult, BS, a rifle in the woods where he likely couldnt shoot past 100 yards anyway, whats more difficult? And dont even mention the angle as we have proved that not a problem years ago!
