My brother killed a 400+ elk this year with a 117 gr SST. He's used .25-06 for deer and elk since the 70's, always Ruger heavy barrel varmint rifles. Used to load his own with 120 gr partitions, but now he just buys the Hornady ammo with the SST's.

When I started reloading ammo for my 7mm mag, I ordered a box each of SST and Noslar Ballistic tips. After, testing and playing with the formula's. The Noslars won out to accuracy and performance. I have never tried the accubonds.

In ballistic gelatin tests the Accubombs and the Ballistic tips performed almost identically. The Accubombs are basically a more expensive ballistic tip.
I would like to read these test results if they are available online. Can you provide linky?
Accubonds are a bonded bullet, Ballistic Tips are not.
tks,

I know the Accubombs are bonded. The Ballistic tips and the Accubombs perform basically the same in deer hunting bullets. That's why most people that have used both call the Accubonds "Accubombs". Of course the Varmint Ballistic tip bullets will be explosive.
Can you tell the difference in performance watching these videos? Both bullets completely pass thru the gelatin and are basically the same. The wound channels even look the same.

So are you basing your statement from 2 videos with no actual data showed?

Not just the videos, but from hundreds of people that use both bullets and post their results on the numerous forums that I frequently go to on a daily basis. Most of them basically say the same thing about the performance of both bullets.
I also read an article by Rick Jamison in Shooting Times back in 2006 and he basically said after his testing that they were pretty much the same with the Accubond penetrating 2 inches deeper than the ballistic tip. The wound channel of the Ballistic tip was larger and about 2 inches shallower. The Accubond penetrated 16 inches and the Ballistic tip penetrated 14 inches. It had before and after pics of the same weight and caliber bullet .308 from different bullet makers. You couldn't tell the difference between the 2 bullets after it was recovered. It is no longer in the archives of that site.

Cool I got no issue with your stance as ling as you have something to base it on that can stand is all.
The accubond is design to have ballistic tip characteristics but to have a bit more weight retention and somewhat more controlled expansion. If your getting the bullet in hopes it is like a Spire or partition then you have the wrong idea of its purpose
It is however very comparable to the sst which is what the op was about.

They are all good bullets. I personally would pick whichever shot the best out of my rifle. I shoot SST's, NBT's, IB's, Scirroco's, Accubonds, TTSX etc. They all kill deer with ease.

I switched to Accubonds and have not looked back. Best bullet for hunting ever devised for my $.
Of course I speak from experience. Some wouldn`t know a good bullet if it bit them in the azz.
ditto killing 15 + deer a year with a rifle and different loads I will advise you and accubond all day long over a BT bullet
the only exception is the nosler 120 BT in .284
I load dblaarchery's 257 weatherby mag with 110 accubond at 3517 fps he will certainly tell how they perform
I have killed mutiple deer with these accubonds
.270
130 and 140
284
140 160
308
180
300 rum
150 200
7/08
160
they are the ticket
i am sure the interbonds from hndy would work but i am a nosler fan period
if i owned a 25/06 110 accubond all day long
