I climbed many trees in that stand but I was never stupid enough to go 50 feet. I did that camo paint job one year out of boredom. The foot pad sure made a difference in keeping my feet warm. That stand has been on half the stands at Cheatham. I'm guessing I got that and another just like it but one size smaller in about 1983 or 84.

I would like to see the bucks over 125, I killed out of that stand. They don't make it any more but it was state of art in its' day. I sure hope you are wearing a harness and wonder why you want to make your shots so difficult by climbing way higher than needed.

Bowriter- Shots difficult? These two dropped in their tracks.

Ps- thanks for the history on the stand, I was curious about it.

dang! 50 ft.??? I am a 25-30 ft. climbing stand guy and the 30 ft. sometimes seems little excessive. To each his own, stay safe and use a harness. Nice kills on the does.

I've got no problem going as high as necessary for the spot - but most places above 35ft and you get back into the canopy branches and I find visibility usually gets worse.

My tow line is 20ft - I usually climb till it pulls tight and adjust for visibility from there so usually 20-23ft.
