I try to hunt off the side of the hollers instead of in the middle of them - I like to set up about 10-30 yards up the side of them to give me some height advantage. It also projects more sound to me than being on the lower-lying ground. In these types of situations, I'm focusing on staying at least 60-70 yards away from where the deer's travel routes typically take them in the bottom. That distance seems to really reduce the amount of trouble I get from being scented in a swirling wind condition.

During gun season, use a bit of distance to your advantage when you can.

If you are talking about BIG ridges, this might not be practical, but some folks will rake out a path up a smaller finger ridge to allow them to move to/from a spot silently. I've done this a couple of times when I had a ridge-top trail and another at the bottom. Sometimes if you know deer are moving just above you and out of sight, you can stalk up the hill and get in position for a shot while walking on bare dirt.
I'm hungry and tired. Don't poke my belly.

I like saddles at the top of ridges were multiple hollows come together

I prefer to hunt ridge-tops in mornings and valleys in evenings, due to the ay thermals play out at these times.
