Both are nice rigs and the 22-250 is a HOT round (50gr VMAX @4000fps box stock @4250+ handloaded)and will flat out shoot em dead, however i prefer a .223 and little lower power scope. I have been addicted to coyotes for several years now and have tried several setups from unethical anemic .17hmr to screaming hot .243 (65gr VMAX @ 4075FPS)and have found the most effective rig is Stevens 200 in .223 with old bushnell 2.5X7X36 running 77gr Nosler Custom Competition. Lite enuff to haul around allday great wide sight picture on low power and cheap to shoot and heavy enuff bullet to punch through tall grass and lite brush. when i got started i thought i would need a flat bullet that could shoot out to 500 yards but found that in tennessee most of my opportunities (notice i said opportunities not shots) came from within 100 yards and were only present for very few moments, so i need a rig to be faster and accurate and lite recoil so i could stay on target. i will say this...my opnion is my personal prefrence...the best advice i can offer is get what you want and learn how to run it effectively and accuratly and have fun....having one come blazing into your call is one of the greatest adreneline rushes you can have while hunting. Good Luck

Stevens is made by Savage, bolt...budget model until folks found you could build one out with Savage parts...they interchange and are extremely accurate. When i caught the long range bug a friend suggested them but that was several years ago and you could buy them less than $269.00 new, now they run $450+ new. now every thing run in a bolt gun is Stevens or Savage or Stevens with Savage barrel or the other way round...

I would go with the 7 or a 700 VTR. I don't think that long and heavy barrel of the SPS would be fun to tote aroung while yote hunting.

Model 7 all the way. The perfect sized rifle if you cover a lot of ground.

Haven't gone out specifically coyote hunting but I bought a 700sps in .243 to double for deer and yotes. It's not the most expensive or nicest 700 but the deer I've killed with it didn't seem to know any difference.
