First of all, thanks for all the replies on my other thread, I am already learning alot.
I have the LG Optimus Logic phone and from everything I see it appears this phone operates off of AT&T towers. (Bad for my area)
I then looked at the LG Optimus Zip and from what I can tell this phone operates off of Verizon towers.
Is this correct? Yes, I am ignorant.

Sorry, I didn't see the other thread.
We tried straight talk, realized we had no signal anywhere expect within city limits of Nashville or another large city and then we signed a contract with Verizon.
There was no signal inside the Walmart where we ported the numbers. We had to use a Walmart land line to talk to the folks at Straight talk. No signal in Carthage, no signal in Lebanon...no signal anywhere that is a 3 or 4 G network with any other phone.
I hope it works out for you and you will save a TON of money. Mostly because you can't use minutes if you can't make a phone call.

So, do you just take your phone to Walmart and there is someone there who helps you or what?

Yes. Go to Walmart in the Electronics Department. They will activate a phone you buy with the service plan you buy. If you are under contract with another cell phone provider, switching over to Straight talk is not going to end that contract. You will still owe the other service provider. You can also go on StraightTalk.com and do the same thing.

bought ours on line and got a better selection, better prices, they shipped them out to us, and we just called and got them set up over the phone, had phone numbers switched over all in one call. Roger I can drive through your area on the interstate and have no prob with service, and we have been on some back roads and out in the boonies and still have service. Rarely will we find a place that doesnt have service. off the top of my head I can think of only one, and that is some hole in the wall that lade hunts out west way.(i think)

If you are not under contract with another service provider you should be able to. The reason I say this, I was in Walmart when A woman was trying to switch her Cricket phone over to Straight Talk and was not allowed to because the phone was still under contract with Crickett for two years. Walmart wouldn't switch it over.
There may have been more involved than just a contract. There may have been phone ownership dispute or something. A lot of the phones are "upgrades" if you sign a contract extension. That may have been the case with this one. I just heard the tail end of the conversation.
