Good advise on listing the pros / cons. Consider benefits, which I'm sure you have. Sometimes you have to go with your gut. About 10 years ago I left a very large Corporation for a smaller family owned business in a completely different industry and haven't regreted it a bit. Good luck.

OK, you like where you are working and another company offered you a job and you raised the stakes and they accepted then when you went to your company to tell them they matched it.

Right??

Stay where you are. They want you bad enough to give you a raise just to keep you with them. 9 people out of 10 will get a handshake and told good luck and to stop by once in a while to visit. In 35 years in business I only did that to 2 people, all the others I wished them luck. Those two people I wanted no mater what and they KNEW it.

You said you was happy in your company. Some people can't get it in a corporation and leave the first chance, they end up doing much better in a non-corporation company. But you did say you was happy there are you not. If not then leave.

What do you really want to be doing in 10 years? And what kind of life do you want to be living? Which one has the most potential for you to get there?

Or flip a coin (On tough decisions I usually go best 2 outta 3)

Being happy at your job is more important than the money but, extra money is always good. I'd go with your gut feeling. Personally, I could make more money somewhere else but, these guys have been good to me and I get by.

If your happy i would stay, but thats just me. You've put 5yrs in and probably have alot more senority that others. It would be rougher than you think starting over, or maybe it wouldnt?

Good Luck with your decision

I agree with Wildcat; if your current employer is willing to pay more to keep you, they value you and will continue to reward you in the future.

The only problem is, they weren't willing to pay until he was letting them know he was leaving, most companies will match pay to keep a current employee, because it will be He77 to find a instant replacement to fill the position, and in the long run saves them money.
Secondly, once you stay they have you. Your leverage is somewhat spent in terms of future dealings for the most part.

The new company started out offering better money and it seems you like the style of the company. If it was me, I would be packing my bags and moving along. Remember, they approached you.............they see something in you and have a need for that, or they would not have contacted you.

The corporate folks who matched the offer? I can guarantee you that should the need arise they would put you on the street faster than you can blink your eyes. I don't care if you are producing gold from lead they would let you go with about as much concern over your well being as a fly knows today is Thursday. How many Corporate guys have hit the streets just on this site?

Take the other job. You already knew the answer.
