I am fixing to change my cell service and leave Verizon and go with straight talk.
Got a great deal on a phone via black Friday.
$45 plus tax per month for unlimited everything (text, calls, data) and the way I understand it they operate on verizon towers so the service should be fine.

My question is, can you keep your same number when you activate the phone and if so, HOW?

My brother didnt get to keep his same number.

But as far as signal goes, he has no problems.

Ive thought about going with straight talk myself but just hadnt done it.

When you call to activate your number it gives the option to switch from another provider... I love my ST phone, saves a lotta money.

Yep I switched over to Straight Talk earlier this year. $45 for unlimited everything and no contract! I kept my same number. Just be sure you have your Verizon account number and password handy when you activate your new phone.

My wife switched hers over and is very pleased with it. I will be switching over as soon as my contract is up in February.

Don't close your existing account with Verizon until you buy your straight talk phone. They will swap it all over for you. So you can keep your current number. If you already closed your account with your current provider there is no guarantee you can keep your same number.

You can also get an older iphone and get it to work on ST. You can get the SIM from them for $14.99 if the one that came with your phone doesn't work for the iphone.

Both sons had it and now wish they had it back, lol. Wife uses ST, I use Cricket.

ST seems fine if you get a decent phone. Her cheapie did not get service from our old lease in Madison County. Neither did my Cricket.

We originally both had Verizon as well.

She kept her old number with ST and I did as well with Cricket.

I have a smart phone with Cricket and she has an old cheapie with ST that just died.

She will be upgrading soon.

Best to call ST Katie and ask them. These phone companies change things so fast, nobody can keep up.

Ruger, not all ST phones feed from Verizon towers. The GSM phones (GSM phones have SIM cards) are fed from AT@T or T-Mobile towers. To avoid confusion, you can go to ST's site and there to see which provider's towers your phone will feed off of. But it it's a GSM, I can almost guarantee it's on AT&T service.

I've been on ST for over two years now. Very satisfied, and in that time I've saved over $1,300.00.

Also, to avoid the hassle of re-filling, I set up my re-fills up on automatic bank draft a couple months ago. I recommend it.

Have had Straight Talk for 2 years for both thte wife and I and love it. My St phone finally died about 2 two months ago. Could not find a ST phone I liked so I ended up going with Net10 instead from Wal Mart because that service had the phone I wanted. Same basic deal only even a little cheaper for the service I use.

YOU DEFINITELY CAN TAKE YOUR NUMBER TO STRAIGHT TALK.

WARNING: BE SURE TO GOOGLE THE MODEL NUMBER OF THE PHONE YOU GET TO BE SURE IT IS ON VERIZON. SOME OF THEIR PHONES ARE ON SPRINT, OTHERS ON ATT.

If you buy an unlocked GSM phone, you will be on ATT towers.

Our phones are on straight talk now, one on verizon, an old Iphone on ATT. Love it!

Straight talk is awesome, for $45 unlimited everything, you can't beat it.You just have to watch what phones you get. Some run off at&t towers and some off of Verizon, and some off sprint.Verizon is the only phones we use.We just got my wife a samsung galaxy proclaim with the 3G/wifi,and man this thing is awesome. The internet is faster than my home internet through our phone company. And thats sad.I like it so much,im buying one tomorrow.

my problem might be traveling ...how does ST do across the country??

oh and we have internet service for all the phones and ipad as well.

thanks

My problem is getting the phone I like I have 4 galx 3 now and if I had to buy them on prepaid it would have cost a lot more. If I kept on the Verison network it would be ok as I travel to SD and most carriers die up there the only two are ATT and verison with better service for me is the verison

When travelling: Straight Talk uses the same towers as Sprint, Verizon or ATT. I haven't had any trouble.

There is no way, he does that. Considering the data package for each line with Verizon is $30.00 a month that is not including the regular charge of the basic service for the phone. I call BS on this one.

been a verizon user for a long time. the ipad is not a working number, she can not talk on it, just uses the number to get internet service and emails to it.....

maybe we got such a deal because her work gets a discounted price...one of her phones she also uses for work...her work does not pay for it entirely, just gets the business discount.

All i do is pay the bill, she put all this together....

I think the last bill was $114 and some change....

so quickly we yell BS!!! some thing never change...lol.

I had a Straight Talk Android phone and had ZERO problems with it. I had the $45 plan and it was great. I am currently on the ATT network with our family plan and it is limited and costs more.

Once the contract is up I am going back to Straight Talk.

ST is pretty good service,I bought a ZTE, and a LG logic at the family dollar of all places for 29.00 each!!!

its very possible, if he has had service with them for a long time he could have an old plan, one that he is grandfathered in on, thats the way it was when i had my att phone. i had a plan they didnt offer anymore. so I had lots of min. and all the bells and whistles for a fraction of what a comperable plan now costs. so it may not be BS at all!

You can keep your number. I had straight talk and really wasn't having problems, but when my wife's contract was up, we switched to mobile nation. I do not know if it is a phone problem, or just a coverage issue, but the service is spotty at best, texts keep getting dropped/delayed, calls dropped. Customer service is a joke, and their best solution is to either buy(at full cost) a better phone, or pay the early termination fee(on 3 lines) or just live with it. Since I don't have $900 to break contract, nor 1500 to replace 3 phones, I think I am stuck until my contract expires in 18 more months. At the moment, my intention is to return to straight talk unless someone else comes up with a better plan in the mean time.

Still to hard for me to believe. My wife and I both have had smart phones since verizon first offered them. We also have had service with verizon since we been married 13 years. We have had everything grandfathered in. There really is no way for it to be that cheap. I have unlimited everything and refuse to do the upgrade so i don't lose unlimited data. We have 2 smart phones and a regular phone on our plan. Along with a 25% discount through work and mine is no where near that cheap. Still call BS. Especially after talking to one of my very best friends that has been a verizon dealer since verizon was Cellular one. He said just about dang near impossible with 3 lines with data packages on 2 and just data on the other.

I have had mine for 2 years now and I am very satisfied. Part of their phones run off of the ATT network (GSM) and part of the operate on Verizon (CDMA) network. I went with the CDMA Verizon phones because one area we like to camp at we cannot ger an AT&T signal. Anywhere there is Verizon I have service.

My wife kills a watch if she touches it. You can replace the battery, but it still never works. Her Papa was the same way. We had a clock on the wall above our bed on her side, and it stopped 2 days after we got it. Put new batteries in it...nothing.
