What a day!!!

stayed up late working and 4:30 came to early. I slept in till 7:00. Took my son to school and remembered that it was 8:00-9:00 when I saw deer moving yesterday so I hit the woods.

I had a plan for today. I had picked a spot 50 yrds off the ridge where I could see deer moving down low. The bad part is you have to hunt from the ground on the side of a ridge.

Last night I doug out my Summit Trophy Chair and a piece of blind material to string behind me so I could hide from the deer low and the deer high.

Anyway, got to my spot @8:03 by tip-toeing and trying to not make any lateral moves. Walk straight to a tree, look around and walk straight to a another. It's the side to side movements that deer pick up on. I dropped my backpack and doug out the blind material and string and strung it up more to my side than behind me. As I sat back down I saw a does head drop and a leg move about 80 yrds out in the fog. I got my rifle up and when I found her in the scope she was staring straight at me.

"Boom" goes rifle. She drops her front end and starts plowing straight down the hill. 20 yrds, 30, 40 50...60.....80...out of sight.

"great", I say" dead down 100 yrds straight down..... it's 8:06

I saw another doe run up hill after the shot but I don't see her now. I just sit here and wait. After just a little bit I see he easing back down to where the first doe stood. She gave me a 100 yrd broadside

*Boom* She drops It's 8:10.

As I'm sitting there pondering the mess I have getting Doe #1 out, I text Dave Miller and call the wife. Then I see another deer coming over the ridge. I think it's a buck, no, it's a doe "honey, I gotta go. I think I'm going to go ahead and screw up my whole day"

*Boom* She drops and flips over once It's 8:30

As I sit there and just let things settle down three more does come in. I throw rocks a them.

I leave the deer and go home, get the deer gear and return. I dress the first tow and get them on the deer cart for a NASTY 1 hr drag to the top of the rocky ridge. I drop down to the bottom and find doe #1. She get's the gambrel in the tree treatment and enjoys the rest of the trip in a trashbag inside my backpack.

I never did get that chair strapped to the tree. It just laid there next to me on the ground the while time. Packed that dang thing in for nothing!!! LOL

Congrats! I've done that once last year and told myself after that I will never do it again.

So much fun on trigger time and playing your cards right to shoot them yet keep the rest from running off. It's a strategy and it's a rush.

But the smoke clears, the cussing begins \:D

Yea, took me over 2 hours to get them to the top of the ridge. Then another 1/2 hr to the truck.
