I saw one of those hawks hit a bird in mid air in front of my house yesterday.. he dropped it and it fell in the creek..lol..
a buddy of mine.. shot a squirrel with a 22 some years back.. when it hit the ground .. a coyote came out of no where and snatched it up....

I saw a sparrow hawk (kestrel) eating on a bird it caught in the woods the other day. It was picking feathers off one at a time. It took more energy for it to eat that little thing than it got from it.
