About a half hour of light left, I was set up on a thicket opening into oak trees. I hear something coming at a dead run. A doe fawn scampers out, stops looks around, makes a big circle then darts back in the thicket around 50 yards further down. Hot on her heals comes a....button buck. He didn't exit the thicket but stopped just inside. He must have spotted me because stomped a few times, blew, and then went back where he came from. I had a hard time getting a good glass on him but there appeared to be knobs on his head.

So was this a doe fawn in heat? She was not a particularly large fawn. But he was clearly dogging her and she was clearly trying to get away. I have seen a mature buck chasing a fawn in November before, who was in heat by the way she was acting (it was in KY and I had filled by buck tag, so I shot that doe finding out she was a fawn).

I saw two fawns chasing each other on monday morning. I think it's normal fawn behavior but I dont know, BSK could answer if it was rutting behavior or not.

Probably siblings, and the button buck was just trying to keep up with his sister, as momma is off being bred.

Last year, I was watching a doe and a fawn for about 30 minutes. I heard a fawn bleat and another fawn came out of the thicket and it came and joined the other deer. He(I assume it was a he)kept trying to mount the other fawn. I just thought that was interesting.

I think it's the effect of all this "Deer Cocaine" that's being used by so many hunters nowadays. Ever since that stuff came out, I've noticed a decay in the morals of the local deer herd. Old mature bucks chasing young fawns, fawns chasing fawns.....does chasing bucks..........

Have witnessed this exact thing. When momma is being bred the fawns do some really crazy things like running in circles like house dogs and kicking up heals and just weird body movements because they seem to get tore up over the major break in their daily routine.................or it seems to me that way.

Yep, the 1st Fall after using Deer Cocaine, I called in 2 does one morning using Golden Estrus a grunt call and a doe bleat can. They came in a run to the apparent orgy that was going on in the thicket where I sat. It had to be the cocaine because everybody knows that nice ladies don't go "looking for it"
