Last Monday my son got Verizon Wireless to issue a replacement phone for my daughter due to some problems she was having with hers. On Thursday i discovered the phone was shipped via USPS rather than UPS. The problem is we do not have a rural mailbox and all of our mail goes to a PO box. So Friday I called the local PO in Harrogate and asked them if they could be on the look out for it and hold it for me. The answer I received from the mail delivery driver was if it is addressed to my street address and I dont have a mailbox, they would hold it until I put up a mailbox, or they would send it back as undeliverable. Monday comes around and I go to the PO to speak with the Postmaster. I'm in the Harrogate PO often and everyone knows me, so no problem getting my package, right? WRONG!!! The Postmaster was a rigid female who would not waver from their position. Either put up a mailbox pr they would send it back. Come on, I have a PO box around the corner, and my physical address is listed on my PO box account.
So yesterday I go to Walmart and purchased a mailbox and got a couple of the neighbor sons to help me to put it up last night. I called this morning and informed the PO that the box was up and they could deliver my package. All is well, right? NO!!! I found out a little while ago, through my original Verizon delivery email notification with the tracking number, that the package was in Fort Worth, TX. Some idiot at the PO sent the package back! To say I was upset would be an under statement. When I called the PO and spoke with a rep, their excuse was someone must have been unaware that it was being held and mistakenly sent it back. BS! It is not a big PO, so I dont buy that.Fortunately Verizon Wireless technical care team has been amazing and they are going to overnight a replacement phone via FedEx. I'm going down to the PO tomorrow and have a talk with the Postmaster over their handling of this.

Good luck talking with them. Union employee going by the book. Don't expect any special treatment from them. If they did it for you, they would have to do it for everyone.

I have a street mailbox, and they take my packages to the P.O cause some drivers cant find my house. Makes no sense

The post office in general sux..Not just harrogate. I try to avoid the post office any change I get.WIsh I had a ups shipping center closer.

I caught my postal delivery guy, a contract one, holding up Hunting magazines and related items. I went to the local post office, spoke to the lady in charge. I'm standing there with proof in my hands, she refused to believe me until I asked okay, who is your Boss, I'm going to him. SHe got all uppity on me but said she would investigate. Turns out, the guy was a rabid anti-hunter, admitted holding up the mail and lost his job.

Having similar issues with my carrier right now. He doesn't always stop when I KNOW I have mail coming. When I left a handwritten note (flag up on the box did get him to stop) mentioning the problem, he left a note and a post office form saying my mailbox is always blocked by parked cars, which is not the case.
I am going to file a formal complaint and will be taking documents and tracking numbers from companies that have shipped merchandise to me via Priority Mail.
Also, from now on, any company I order merchandise from will use a carrier other than USPS to deliver my packages.
