Well, I posted something simalar to this a few days ago. After hunting pretty thoroughly during Thanksgiving I came home each day empty handed for the third Thanksgiving season in a row. Very discouraging to me, Thanksgiving week used to be my killing week, now I guess I have my standards set so high It will be probably one kill every ten years lol! Well we have 200 + or - acres. This is year five and it seems to be getting worse as far as overall deer sightings go. I have already said in an earlier post what we have harvested and you would think we would start to see a difference in year five. I guess I have came to my conclusion, and should have known all along, that this little land is just not possible at all to get older deer. We have even been pushing the killing of does very hard and have killed alot. I think it has been around 20 total does killed off this place for the almost five years we have had it. I did not think it would hurt, only help, but I think it has hurt because of our overall deer sightings are down. the summer we bought the place and the first two deer seasons were filled with deer. Sometimes see 8-10 does together at one time. The average sighting now seems to be an old doe or two with their offspring. I am beggining to wonder if we have killed too many? Or am I overthinking it and trying to hard to get a big buck? I have no idea what the neighboring hunters do. I do know that we have neighbors that hunt, do not hear them shoot all the time, but do know that alot of this little bucks we let walk do not last. I know it is hard for yall that are not with me to advise me, but from what yall can read, what ya think? Sorry for another long story. Thanks!

Seems to me that you may be putting too much pressure on the place. What is your habitat like? Mature hardwoods, clear cut, pines? Also what are your neighbors like? Do they have large tracts of land or are they small? Like others said in your previous posts, it seems like you are doing quite well considering you have a small piece of property surrounded by neighbors who arent selective.
It probably wouldnt hurt to slack on the does a little if your sightings are way down.

Bayou, Pressure may be the thing. I just don't wanna tell my best friend what to do. Our land is connected, and we hunt each others like its our own. I am not sure what my neighbors shoot. I don't hear them shoot alot, but I do not get to go much either. Neighbors land is like 900 something acres. The other niehgbors are like 100 something. All are cow, horse pasture or hayfield, with mature hardwoods. not many thickets. My land has most of the thickts, mainly cedar type thickets with a few red oak variety and chiqapin oaks. Also have cows on my land. One acre food plot. About 20 acres of cow pasture. Most of the woods are cedars, stupid hackberrys, and hickories. very few oaks on my part. My buds got oaks and hickories everywhere. the land connects.

I wish I could comment, but without being familiar with the land and full past history, as well as your goals, I would just be guessing.

Maybe there being over pressured are you hunting the land all the time? I e noticed on my small peice of property that if I have other places to hunt other than it i tend to see more deer as I'm no pressuring them... And are you running trail cameras at all? I only used to run them in the summer thru October. Last 2 years I've run them everyday thru hunting season... Just a suggestion... And my land is just 36acres and I've managed to kill 3.5+ y/o buck several times buthe years I didn't kill 1 were years that I didn't have another lease or hunt elsewhere and hunted my place everyday I went.

It's way too difficult to draw a conclusion based soley on hunter sightings. Food plots? Sanctuaries? How many treestands? Where are they located? How often are they hunted? Etc
