I have have hunted North Cumberland when it was Royal Blue and they were mining on the Anderson, Scott and Campbell side the hunting was excellent,it was always steep but the hunting was good.I have hunted this area for over 20 years and have seen deer and game pretty much every time I went in the woods.I took my son who cut his hunting teeth there and is now almost 30 years old, this past weekend. We went to the area off the Huntsville Oneida exit, and we did not see any deer, and the four of us covered a lot of land that we always saw deer on,but we did not see any deer, but we did see lots and lots of four wheelers.
Saturday my truck was covered in dust from the log trucks on the anderson county side, and the amount of logging was crazy. It's a shame to see the land cut down to dirt, and the shape the roads were in.We could not access a lot of the wildlife area. When we park to enter where a food plot was, we had to wade dust covered weeds and listen to log trucks going up and down the mountain,I mean watch the log trucks.I am disapointed that its called a Wildlife Manegement Area instead of a logging company and atv usage area. When four hunters travel for miles on the entire area and see a very sparse amount of wildlife (no deer),it is disapointing to say the least. I needed to vent, because I hunted these areas when peaople said there were no deer and seen plenty.( Not Now ).

It is a great irritation to see/hear that mess while you are trying to hunt. However, these clearcuts will yield some good hunting in a few years when they start to grow up. The additional food source is a real blessing when you have a mast failure!
