Nope. My shooting house is right beside my campsite. ;\)
Campsite was there first. We had that stand at another location in the deep woods, but the landowner was getting ready to select cut around it so we moved it back to the campsite to keep it from being damaged until we could decide where to relocate it. Just so happened that it stayed there for a year and then another, so we made that spot its home. We have taken many, many deer from it in two years in that spot. And many of those times, while the generators were running at the campsite. Deer are very strange animals!!

That is 235 yds. My son shot his 8 pt at 205 yds down this lane. He and I hunted all morning, came in to eat a bite of lunch, sitting by the fire at the camp. Afterwards, we were getting ready to stretch out for a mid day siesta, and decided to walk over and 'check the lane' first. The rut-stinky buck was down at the end. He looked up and saw us, and we and the deer froze in our respective positions for a 6 minute stare down. Finally, my son (in a half kneeling position, but froze there) said he was getting spasms in his legs, and had to either move and scare the deer off or take the shot. I told him if he could hold it steady to take the shot. BANG !!! The deer fell in its tracks!! . 270 Barnes Ballistic Tip from the Tikka T3 Lite entered center of neck and exited the rear 2" of the right backstrap. Actually did not exit the hide. No internal organs damaged at all!! One of the cleanest kills----and a very low percentage shot-----I have ever seen. Amazing how calm, cool and collected (and steady) a 24 year old is compared to a 54 year old!! I would have never attempted that free hand!!

Nice buck! Cool camp and a great story. White legged buck!

Yep. First deer we have taken from that lease with white legs. Kinda strange. Piebald genes, perhaps?
