if you are calling, you will not often make a shot over 100 yards. go light

X2 on going lite...especially in big areas when you do a lot of walking between stands...22" barrel and 77gr bullet outa .223 is good medicine for coyotes out to 250, however most opportunities will come inside of 100 and most will be kinda "now you see um....now you don't" shots...so low power wide FOV scopes are in order. A coyotes "kill zone" is the size of a tennis ball as compared to a whitetail's being the size of a volley ball so a deadnutzup accurate rifle is a must
