i had an incident last night. i caught 2 guys trying to break into my neighbors house and it was a situation that could have ended really badly. i thank god it didn't go any other way and i was able to scare them off.

after the 2 fine specimans disappeared, i went to my neighbors and searched her house for her. we don't live it the hottest neighborhood and she is a single older woman, but the nicest sweetest neighbor anyone could ask for. i'd be pretty hurt if anything happened to her.

thinking on it now, i would feel better if had something bigger than the Ruger Mark II .22 i had in my hand but it's all we have.

so i'm looking for something a little bigger. it doesn't have to be new, fancy, or top of the line. it will be for security measures only.

A pump shotgun with buckshot is much better for home defense IMO.

Actually a pump shotgun with birdshot is even better.. average shot is about 15 feet.. birdshot at that range is like shooting a slug.. except it doesnt penetrate sheet rock very well and wont kill a innocent bystander in the next room..

^^ This.

Pumping a round into the chamber is the universal code for "Uh-Oh!"

Bird shot is what I have in my magazine of my 870. I'd rather have a shotgun in my home...

Agreed on the shotgun. The only thing is this, I have my ccp, and when I leave, I take my pistol with me. My long guns are in the safe. My theory is this... If I am coming home to find someone, I dont want them armed with my guns.

geez guys... now that i read your posts a pistol grip shotgun with buckshot would be the way to go. these guys were bold... it was 7:45 at night and obviously didn't care who was home.

i guess hide it until i get home? then keep it handy? like savage said, i'd dang sure hate to come home to find them in my house holding my shotty.
