The rut switch finally flipped "on" for us Friday. Scrapes, rubs, lost fawns & cruising bucks everywhere this weekend.
My 6 yr old grand nephew killed one Saturday afternoon that we called Big Ugly. We have lots of history with this deer and tons of pics. Earlier last week he was an 8 point, but as usual he broke most of it off before Jake killed him as a 192# 4 Point! Did not leave much sign after the shot, so I had to break out my little dog (Schnauzer)to find him. Zeke trailed him about 600 yds with a drop of blood about every 40-50 yds. Buck was still alive 2 hours after Jake shot him. The smile on Jake's face was worth all the briar's Zeke took me thru during recovery.

Yeah, but he was just about done. Bullet barely clipped one lung and liver.

Nice we are still seeing just does.
It simply popped for us on Friday. I've hunted just about everyday since the 2nd week of ML and the change was like being in the Mid-West.

I sure could've used Zeke a few years back.
We don't have to use him very often, maybe a time or two a year. However, he's been 100% on recovery for the past 6 years when there is a drop or two of blood.
