Nope...has not in years! We have all of our insurance with State Farm. A few years ago, I searched for cheaper insurance, checking more than ten different companies and none could beat what we have, rate and coverage.
I have been with them over 20 years and have had one claim, a house fire. they took care of it and didn't increase by rate back then.......19 years ago, roughly.
I have all of my insurance bundled together, even my business insurance. I have no complaints at this time.

Claims, credit, rising cost of repairs. All are major factors. stik, from an insurance standpoint, credit plays an important factor. Statistics show that people with higher scores maintain there cars, or homes for that matter. Lower scores tend to let things go due to lack of funds and are more likely to have a claim. Not saying this is the case all of the time, but proven statistics are hard to go against. I do foresee a change in how credit is rated within companies. Many companies have over 200 credit tiers. the ONLY thing that should affect my insurance rates is my driving record. my credit rating is none of their business. i am not borrowing money from them.
Sorry but your credit rating DOES affect everything you do. When I had my business I ran a credit check on every single person that applied for employment, about 95% of all business does that.
Like it or not but everybodys credit score tells others about that person, does that person have discipline, integrity and is responsible??? The people can't meet and know you right off the bat. Since we are talking about insurance here, the reasoning is that those who have a good credit score must be making responsible financial decisions, and are more likely to behave cautiously and responsibly when making driving decisions. Thus, more responsible driving = fewer accidents and claims = lower premiums. Those with low credit scores are often perceived as less responsible, and may be penalized, since they represent a bigger risk.
Not only do the insurance companies check this out but all other business also check on the police records to see our crimial histories and if we have any.

i still don't agree with it. and never will. credit ratings can suffer from reasons beyond your control(unemployment,illness...)

Your driving record DOES suffer from reasons beyond your control. Say a person with a PREFECT driving record gets in 3 different auto accidents in 3 weeks and all of them were caused by the other guy. Do you think his insurance rates will stay the same??? Nope, not a chance, they go up.

About 7 years ago we got a letter in the mail saying that our insurance on my wife's car was going up because too many people with the same make and model of car was getting in accidents & tickets.
Our record was irrelevant but other's people's driving ability was driving up our rates.
How much hot rodding can you do in a 4 cyl. Chevy Cavalier?

stik, not saying it's the case all the time, but like I said, usually people with lower credit scores are barely scraping by, so they won't maintain their vehicle, and are higher risk of a claim as a result. What I don't like is how each company has different factors that produce the "insurance score." I'd love to see a more uniform rating system.

That’s great, isn’t it? I’m just looking at car insurance rate(s) online and I think I’ve found a few pretty decent companies that seem to be reasonable. Hope to get lucky!
