Anyone have any luck hunting around hickory nuts?
I guess deer would feed on them, though I don't think it would be a first choice.
I have a place loaded with em, just wondering if anybody hunted close to some, or if it would be worth my while to put some time in there.

I doubt they can bite into them. I hunt around a ton of them and have never seen it

You will prolly have plenty of success hunting around hickory nuts...........if your huntin for squirrels! I've never noticed a deer eating them though.

I have seen deer eat shagbark hickory nuts before but I believe they were down to their last food source.

Some hickories have thinner shells (genetic traits and different species) so I wouldn't be surprised if deer but into some thin shelled nuts but I don't hear about deer eating hickory nuts often so I wouldn't concentrate deer hunting around hickories unless you love the sound of 4,013 squirrels chewing and rustling the leaves
