Never used an estrous drag before this year. Here's my story and why I will use during rut in the future. Saw a nice buck several times during bow.. never got a shot. Tried the grunt, tried the can. He wasn't having it. Finally, rifle arrived and I had seen some chasing, decided to give it a try. Tied to the boot strap and walked about 300 yds to same stand. 1 hour later, buck was on the ground. he had crossed my trail, stopped, came right to my stand. Shot him at 5 yds line of sight from the tree. No clue that I was there, and if any, didn't care.

All said, I have had some mature does take an exception to my drag. They seem to get to it and get pretty pissed...turn....blow and run.

Killed the biggest deer I have ever killed with the buck bomb three years ago. 9 point that scored 130. Goes to show estrous scents can work during the rut when these bucks start getting stupid.

The third shot finally scared the deer, and she bolted...... We went across the field to see if he had hit. In the process of making our way over, we smelled the STRONG smell of her urine..... smelled just like the doe in heat you can buy. we checked, and seen no sign of a hit. So we headed back across and upon returning, we still smelled the urine, and a really good 8 point came bustin in from behind where he had shot from!! No ammo, but he smelled that dang urine, and came in HOT!!

what you probably smelled was the buck. i have smelled deer several times before seeing them.

KKnight, I know he came in to it because he walked right up to the can and I shot him.

Ive killed my last 3 biggest bucks using scents, 1 using the buck bomb esterus and 2 using Tinks69. And for those wanting to know how I know, the were sniffing the product when they were shot.

People are skeptical because they try it a few times and it does not bring them right in. Scents can work if used in the right situation at the right time. They can run deer off if used in wrong situation at the wrong time. Sometimes they have no effect at all. It is not a gaurantee kill but to say they do not work at all is an over statement in my opinion. Probably a waste of money the majority of the time, but all you need it to work is one time.

Yea, Im certain it was the die due to wind direction.... Blew her scent to td, and also the buck. As he was downwind of her.
