The guys on my lease are starting to fuss about shooting does. They are saying that they read where that killing 1 doe removes 12 new ones from the population and are starting to frown on taking does at any time. Any suggestions for replies to not shooting does.

It depends from place to place. If you guys aren't seeing many deer and just the occaisonal rack buck, then yeah don't shoot does.
If its not uncommon for you to see 10-15 does in one sitting and a spike or a four point every now and then, IMHO I say hammer away.

Appropriate doe harvest are always going to be a site-specific equation. What an appropriate harvest is for your club is impossible to answer without knowing the area and the club's history. However, remember that every location has a maximum number of deer it can feed, and herd health is maximized far below that maximum feeding number. So the questions are, how many deer do you have, how many deer can your area support, and what do the hunters want out of their hunting experience (numbers of deer seen versus individual deer size/health)?
