Thompson Center contender in 7-30 Waters 120gr. Nosler BTs works pretty good. One of my buddies has taken 2 this week with his.
I have a brother that shoots that one. My favorite is my 357 Herrett, although it's a bit much for deer (was designed for elk). A Contender in 35 Remington is a fine deer round.

I have a S&W 686 with a 8-3/8" Barrel in .357 I reload and loaded up some max rounds a few years back and shot a doe with it at 25 yards no pass through. I slipped up on her and put a second one in her and she went down. a cpupple years latter I shot a 8 pt. I was sitting on the ground he came by at 10 yards, He bucked and kicked at the shot never found any blood or him. I'm thinking the .357 is to small. but I want to try it one more time. Good luck!

I have killed with my CZ75 9mm from 35 yards using hollow point rounds. The next year I killed with my Ruger Redhawk 44 at a closer distance. Both expired within 75 yards.

What bullets did you load for it? The heavier bullets usually work best in a .357 mag. I killed one with a cast 158 gr. semi wadcutter. I've got some 180 gr. cast gas check flat points that are suppoosed to be awesome from what I hear. Some people say a 158 gr jhp or heavier jhp works good.

45 Colt. I have a Ruger Blackhawk and a Smith Model 25. I have killed a half-dozen deer with this caliber and most have dropped in their tracks. My best load is a 250 grain Speer Gold dot hollow point and 21 grains of H110.
