I just reread the post, didn't catch the whole thing the first time. Do you think he shot both bucks as they went by him or maybe shot the first one from his stand and then shot yours? Bad sitution but there aint much you can do legally.

I had a friend who shot a nice buck and it would have been his biggest and first he made a good shot but did not take a second for some reason.. We blood trailed the deer about 200 yds to a gut pile and fallowed from there to a road

Did the buck you shot have any other bullet holes besides your gut shot? I definetely would've had the GW on his way telling him he had 2 bucks down and was trying to get away with taking your deer!!! I would have confronted him for sure!!!

If you gut shot it, you should be thankful that he put the deer down for you, and let him deal with the legal ramifications.

i would have brought the bucks over to beside each other and took a couple of pictures and waited on him

Carlos, I think he shot his first then shot mine when he came by later. I did get pics of the 8 point and neither deer was tagged. My cousin said I should have stuck my tag way up in the deers eardrum. I didnt think of it at the time. I didnt check for any more bullet holes. His front leg was shot in half.

That hindsight is a cruel mistress. I bet this situation dont happen again to you though. Sorry to hear about all this. You would hope that all hunters have the same morals and values as most of us but unfortunately that aint always the case.
