I don't think Stoops will come, but write it down, he will get Phil Fulmered if he isn't playing for NC' s in the next year or two. He will get run out after 8-10 win seasons if they aren't in the big picture. It would be in his best interest to leave on his own terms. jmo

Tressel has a five year show cause, meaning any school that wants to hire him has to get NCAA Infractions Committee's blessing to do so. Ain't gonna happen.
I hope the vols hire Fulmer back. That should keep them out of contention for anything for another decade or so. He's had so many offers waiting for the vols to come to their senses and all.
Stoops didn't get collared with the nickname "Big Game Bob" because he beats people when it counts.
One thing that's an absolute fact. I'm glad I 'm not AD Hart. He's earning his money right now and will be the first casualty if he doesn't make the right hire.

True. With all the assets he has, Stoops' 7-6 bowl record isn't really anything to be proud of.
And you are exactly right about Hart. He is probably PRAYING that Gruden takes the offer.

I am still all in Gruden untill I here it come out of his mouth. Only reason Gruden don't come is because Dave Hart Won't give him the power he wants they been talking to Gruden since Spring off and on. I have been reading all I could for the last 2 months on this deal. Hart has not had much if anything to do with it. It has been Peyton Manning and Jim Haslim. Peyton offered the School alot of money over 3 years to help make this happen along with Haslims and Boosters. So far what all I have seen in all in the timeline of what info I have gathered. Yes there will be talk of other coached for one they will interview I think 3 coaches and toss there names out. while the Gruden deal cools so people will shut up. No his family has not been to any schools in knoxville looking for one to put there kids in. Gruden would be a great coach, my reasoning for those of you that say why he hasn't coached in 5 years and look at his record in NFL. Ok here we yes he won a superbowl say what you want say he had the team loaded when he got there big freaking whoop he still coached them to a super bowl. Look what he done at the Raiders, took the to conference games, next since the man has been out of coaching he has done nothing but study the game of football inside and out all around. He studied every Coaching style every team College and Pro east Style V/S west coast. Held coaching clinics studied kids coming up and taught them. am I saying he WILL be here so don't change my words around I am saying it has been in the works. Another reason why we should have him, he is the face of football every recruit in high school will want to play for "CHUCKY" because thats all they here and see about on TV. we would be turning recruits away. The worst thing I think we could do is get someone like Petrino here when we are trying to clean up the program and not bring a dirtbag like him in here, Golden has done nothing why do some of you want him. I just soon have Filmer back as some of the other choices out there which his name is not ruled out also Hart would like to see Fulmer back himself. Why do we want a coach thats another team is wanting fired also. Are we likely to get Gruden maybe not but why settle.

I have zero doubt UT and UT affiliated individuals have talked to Mr. Gruden. I also have no doubt Mr. Gruden's wife will play a part in this. My only doubts lie in their decision. Until they make it, these are just typical negotiations. Rumors run rampant and camps divide into the "He's definitely coming" crowd, the "No way" crowd, and the "Wait and see" crowd.
The only ones safe are the wait and see people. The other two have a 50/50 chance of being disappointed and ridiculed when the outcome is known. Personally, I'm hopeful but cautious. If he had zero interest the smoke would be minimal and the silence not so deafening. UTAD is saying nothing. Local media people are trending on the negative side. NFL people trend towards the positive. That in itself is interesting to me. As is the confusion amongst local media who aren't getting diddly from their usual sources.
Tomorrow will be fun.
