Knew that was coming. I am surprised it didn't happen when they knew they wouldn't go to a bowl.
That begs the question. What is the most desirable coaching opening? Auburn, Tennessee, Kentucky, or Arkansas?

It would cost a ton of money to fire Brown right now. The best Texas could hope for is for Brown to decide he's had enough, then negotiate the amount for him to get out of the way.

I don't completely understand what goes on at Auburn. In my time, I've seen them rise to the top, go undefeated, win national titles, two Heisman winners, and fall to the bottom four times with four different coaches.
I suspect a tendency to violate rules is deeply rooted in the Auburn culture. Until they do some serious housecleaning, the pattern will continue. You would think someone would learn their lesson.
Don't be surprised to see Lane Kiffen as Auburn's head coach someday. He is the type of guy some of the Auburn culture would love to hire.

Auburn's problem is keeping Pat Dye around for all these years. He's got an office in the athletic department. He's the same Pat Dye that was caught on tape paying players. They need an athletic department enema and start over.
