I'm going to contact them but I'm hesitant to do so because this stand is 12 years old.
Summit has excellent customer service and they stand behind their products. But I kind of feel like I'm taking advantage of them if I expect them to repair or replace a 12 year old stand. I've more than gotten my money's worth.
I'd go out right now and just by another one just like it if they were available.

Did it break at the weld or has the aluminum flexed and become stressed/weak?

Id try summit, they may not be able to fix it for free, but maybe for a small price, that would be better than trying to find another one you might like. anything is worth a try! and def dont try and use it!! if you fall and hurt yourself, and live through it Diane may kill you!! lol!!

My Summit Viper is easy to use and very comfortable. If you end up buying one, I can certainly recommend the Viper.

It's a Summit Python. It has a rail but it's more of a footrest attached to the top piece. It's like an open face stand for bow hunting but has a rail that hangs low. I like to put my feet up on it and can sit there all day.

Never...ever have I known anyone to have the luck you do. Remind me to never ride with you. A buffalo will probably run over us. Is there ever a time in your life when something was not broken or stolen or just plain wrong?

Yep it has a lifetime warranty for a reason, and if you have it welded yourself you void the warranty. If you void the warranty and something goes real bad that extremely high price insurance that summit pays will do you no good whatsoever. If you give it to someone you have a lawsuit on your hands. Have summit fix it or buy a new one, if you look hard you may be able to find a store that has a few in stock

I'm just glad you were lucky enough to climb down . To have the stand break while you were climbing or while you were in the air could have been REAL bad luck.

Call Summit TODAY. Excellent customer service.
I have a stand you can borrow. Not a summit, not very comfortable but its safe and its a stand. Has an open front too.

Crappie, you can just buy the Razor top section for 179.99...which will save you some money
Razor SD Seat Climber SU81055 + View Larger Image DetailsSpecsAdditional images Purchase a Razor SD seat climber to use with your Summit climbing treestand platform.
Works well with older model aluminum platforms. Includes aluminum seat climber framework, folding climbing bar, foam seat, 1 cable, 2 arm pads, 1 front pad, standard harness, safety strap, instructions. [81055] DOES NOT INCLUDE PLATFORM

Hey!!! I didn't know you could just buy the top or bottom.
What I really need is just the platform. I'll have to look and see if I can just buy a platform.
That would be awesome!!!!

You can buy one for 159.99...have to order it off the Internet, summit doesn't take phone orders anymore

Hey CL. u should be able to get somebody to fix that weld for ya. Try a race car fab shop, bike shop or a lawn mower shop. Any good welder can weld aluminum if he has the right welder.
