Let me first start off that I am now starting to hunt, and Passed my hunter education cert the other day but still have unanswered questions.
I have looked at the guide till I turn blue in the face. I live in the Blount county area and hunted in the rural blue area last week with my friend and found nothing. Im off on Mondays and Tuesdays and im trying to find somewhere that will allow me to hunt deer. Im using a AR15 in 62Gr./75Gr And I need the area to be somewhat easy to travel with a front wheel drive (full size) car.
I have looked at chuck swan but the dates for rifle hunt is only for Fridays and Saturdays. I have also looked at Cove Creek but the guide does not say about any dates or restrictions. It says same as statewide seasons. I assume its from Nov 17 to Jan 6th. Can someone tell me what would be the best area and a possible address to travel to?
And should I use doe estrus?
Again any advise will be greatly appreciated

Chuck Swan is a quota hunt (must be drawn to hunt ). Royal blue has a low deer density but there are some pretty good deer up there if you put in the time to find them . Dont know much about Cove creek.

No limit on the number of rounds. You can have 30 loaded in your clip if you want.

Not sure how you are deer hunting ?? It takes a very skilled hunter to walk and stalk and not spook the deer.I don't do it much except on windy or rainy days .The wind and rain can cover any noise you make or smell you may be carrying with you. If they hear you coming they might lay down in thick cover and watch you walk by,or run off before they ever see you. Most hunter have better sucess when they find a likely spot to set up and hide from the deer on the ground or a stand of some type in a tree. A tree stand can put your scent and movement above the deers line of site. When hunting public land plan on walking a good 1/2 mile or more away from the road.To find area's that are less hunted and the deer are less spooky. No matter how many rounds you carry if you don't make a killing shot with the 1st or maybe 2nd round you are most likely wasteing ammo. Good Luck to you. There can be a huge learning curve starting out on your own without a experenced hunter. It is no where near as easy as some folks seem to think.

When hunting public land plan on walking a good 1/2 mile or more away from the road. not always... I'm ona rather popular WMA right now, I came in before dawn and haven't seen another hunter, saw 2 deer in range but no shot due to branches, and only hiked 5 minutes from the truck.

Learn to read sign, rubs, scrapes, trails from feeding areas to bedding areas, ect. Respect the animal, always make positive I.D. and take high percentage shots only. There are alot of skilled hunters on this site and the internet is a good resource for explaining sign and how to hunt it. If, in your reading, you see the word "drainage", its just a yankee word for hollar... We have hollars down here... not sure what their draining up there. Be patient, stay till you cant then stay another 30 minutes. Keep the wind in your face on stand.. They Will smell you. Get yourself a climbing stand. Buy the safety vest first, if you fall you Can die. Practice with the climber until you are confident before going to the woods. Keep learning, this is my 37th season, when you have them figured out, that will change.
