I will be shocked if it comes to that. I think this hire makes or breaks Dave Hart's career at UT, and I'm sure he's going all out.

Why does anyone think Bob Stoops would leave Oklahoma for Tennessee? That wouldn't even be a latteral move, it would be moving down. Ain't gonna happen.

Because coaches have egos and the SEC is the best competition. Also he has been there for 14 yrs with one NC in 2000 and a loss to BS in a BCA bowl game. The fan base is getting a bit tired of not going to the ahow and eventually he will be asked to leave although winning 9-10 games a year( they jaunt beat OK ST in overtime today. He could have the Keys to the shop at UT, have his personal recruiting pipeline to OK and TX and hire staff with strong ties to Southeast recruiting. In perspective, makes a lot of sense but not sure of buyout....

I agree. I only mentioned his name because some have thrown it into the mix.

The pipeline to Oklahoma? How many good players from Oklahoma have ever played anywhere but Oklahoma, OkState and Texas? What makes you think they want to come to Knoxville? Stoops' ego is exactly why he wouldn't come to the SEC. He has a much easier road to the title where he is than he would in the SEC.

A show cause pretty much in a sense bans a coach from being hired for x anount of years, like pearl and kevin sampson from Indiana. Think about this, butch jones was fired for scandal at unc, mullen now that hes in league play has struggled, strong doesnt have a great record against ranked teams and patterson isnt a very young guy. Having said that they are all upgrades, but i donate every year and want a return to glory so to speak, so i dont want gambles or chances, pay good money for a good coach
do you mean show clause? Like a radio personality quitting one station and not being able to work for another station for one year.....something like that?
I just hope the new staff teaches the boys to tackle below the waist....geesh...fundamentals!!

Pretty sure you can mark Stoops off the list. He has a contract extension until 2018 with $34m and just built a $4m home. I don't think he's planning on leaving Norman, OK any time soon.

If im not mistaken tressel has a show cause on him
The show cause penalty is only a 5 game suspension. And he is on probation until 2015, I think.

Rumor is that Stoop's agent contacted UT.
