One of these days people will not blame the bullet for bad shot placement. I know people mess up with shots but don't blame the bullet blame yourself.

Ok just my 2cents, if there is a large hole in a deers side there will be blood. I have shot deer with ballistic tips, lead tips, and solid lead bullets, put one of any of them through the shoulder and its over. I know its the brooms fault the floor gets dirty.

I don't see how you can blame h bullet with the RIGHT shot placement there is no excuse. The bullet preformed right he found blood he knocked the deer down obviously it just wasn't a good fatal hit. I hate it for the dude we have all been there but it's not the bullet it's the placement of the bullet.

I shot SP rounds for years out of my 25-06, then switched the Federal Prem Ballistic tips. I killed 8 deer over 6 years but I lost 7 deer using Ballistic tips over a 5 year period. Some were broadside or quartering one way or another from 30-220 yards. one that sticks out the most to me, was a doe that was broadside to slight quartering away in a open field @ 119 yards. I had a perfect rest on a ladder stand. at the shot she jumped straight up and muled kicked then ran with her head down about 70 yards into the woods. went to last place i seen her and seen red blood every where, i followed it over 150 yards thru the woods till she crossed over a field with water in it and I couldn't track any more. I looked for another 2 hrs where she was going from the last blood and no luck. I switched to Win Prem 110gr Accubonds and have not had a problem. I've killed 19 deer and i've only lost one and it was during low light and I thought I had a clear lane but after the shot I seen the limb that I hit first before just nicking the deer. All others never run more than 40 yards.

If you think the ballistic tips are the problem then i highly recommend hornady sst's they are outstanding! But like a said we have never had any problem with ballistic tips. The only deer I've ever lost was with core lock and it was diffenetly my fault bad shot placement.
