Sounds like it's time to stop telling your buddy when you hunt and what you take. You might also think about opportunities to take kids hunting, which might be a cool way to take some bucks that he'd have a harder time griping about. Course, knowing the way things are, may not make a difference.
Bottom line is Owner's Land/Owner's Rules.

Don't leave this good spot tell your buddy to deal with it or leave. Were you not the one to find the spot.

Tell your buddy to stay at the house. I'll come shoot some deer. They all taste the same to me.

If there are enough deer to eat the pasture up then your 3 legal bucks and whatever your kid kills will not hurt anything. I would shoot anything that made me happy and show the landowner every one.

I cannot blame the dude for wanting to be a trophy hunter but if it's YALS property and the owner wants the herd thinned then he needs to take one or two off of it. And he does not need to get on you case either. But like i said diffenetly need to talk it out.

The Owner set the rules, if you don't thin out the herd, he might look for new hunters next year.

Been friends for over 30 years. Never would have imagined. Constantly telling me what to do, where to go. Tells me if i change location i am blowing the deer out. That's another thing, he has learned a whole new vocabulary. Heck, i am at least 500 yards from him. I have just been hunting with my daughter for 3 years and the first 2 was fun and had a little success but this year she always asks if he is going. I hate to give this place up but thinking about going back to public land. Ignore him and avoid him. Your hunt-your call. Tell him you will take his opinion under advisement but that you really don't need unsolicited advice from him. Shoot what you want and enjoy the time with your daughter.

Tell your buddy to stfu. Nothing riles me like a jerk belittling someones deer.
^^^^THIS!!!^^^^
Show this to him! To each his own, but being that landowner has a request, I would be trying to satisfy him in some way if I wanted to continue to hunt there.

If your buddy doesn't like it when you kill smaller bucks, how angry is he going to be with you when you kill "his buck?"

It's buck only here. Unit B- Blount County.
it seems that you are allowed four does in Blount county, in Dec/Jan.
I'm not sure what acreage you are hunting, but if every hunter takes out four does, (totalling 12) then that should be enough, right?
I have no idea what skill level you guys have and what degree you guys want to be successful, but when two different type hunters mingle, sometimes it just does not work out.
He seems to want to hunt it the way I would. letting the small bucks walk, (take out does and hunt the land as smartly as possible to try to not bump deer into the next county), and you seem to just want to go shoot deer. Nothing wrong with either way, but sometimes they just don't mix well ....
i think that a good talk with the landowner on how many deer he wants off the property per season would be a good starting place and then you and your buddy sit down and talk about where he and you want to hunt. I agree that sometimes hunters need to stake out an area and others need to stay away from that area and respect the hard work he may have done. I know many times I have worked really hard all year to get to a certain point in the season only to have another hunter simply roam into my area unknowing and basically not caring that he steps on my toes. Hunters need to respect each other's work and not use the old saying..."I pay too so I can go where I want to go" as an excuse when they have done little work and have no idea what they are doing. Randomly walking around during the season while others are hunting is not just disrespectful but also very dangerous..
I have always thought that mandatory plotting of stand sites would be a good idea. Simply get an aerial of the farm and as you put stands up, plot their location...decide on how far is far enough between stands and stick with it....
I guess it's more about mutual respect that each hunter should have for each other. Much like putting a stand too close to one another or getting in someone's stand when he's not there.....
I think at the end of the season, a good "sitdown" is in order...
good luck with this...
