Yes if you were closer I would help,
Forget about the blood and look for leaves turned up ,remember when a deer is running it may be 16 feet before you see any more sign.
Look in and around brush piles and think downhill to water.

If i were closer i'd come help too. Just give him as much time as you can before you look for him. And remember gut shot deer go to water many times, or to the thickest heaviest cover they can find.

Wait at least 5-6 hrs to track a gut shot deer. They will be laying in the first bed if you wait. Jump one and you have real problems. Dont make the same mistake twice. I learned this one the hard way myself. Good luck.

Upon returning.... The buck crossed the street onto different property. I drove up to the house of the landowner, and explained thr situation.... He was extremely upset, and refused to let me track it. I'm extremely disappointed. One, in my shot, and two, in that old man. Thanks for the help everyone, and Im sorry to disappoint.....

That sucks, but if you hunt long enough it does happen. Just learn from your experience and become a better hunter...

I am so sorry that happened to you and very disappointed in the other landowner for refusing to let you try and recover your deer and choosing to let the meat go to waste. I hope his supper gives him diarrhea.
