until you buy a savage, you have not bought your last muzzleloader. i had a salesman tell me that when i bought a cva .45 cal back in 2002. decent gun, but about 400 fps slower than my buddies savage and half as accurate, bouth the savage ml 2 IN 2005 and i am done. no cleaning, ever!!! no smoke!! accutrigger and a tack driver. plus 2400 fps.

Savage will not disappoint. If you prefer the Encore and want .45, have a 45-70 barrel tapped for a Savage breechplug. Unless you just love the smell of black powder, DEFINITELY smokeless.

I love my optima elite, I have 2 lowers, and about 15 barrels. Fun to play with love having a .45 and a .50 give me the options of a sledge hammer or a slightly flatter sledge hammer. And at 200 yds with either no problem. Spend the real money on a super high quality scope.

Bad Bull Muzzleloader. It is a beast! 3100 fps at the muzzle. It uses smokless powder. If i had the extra money I would have one. But I will just shoot my $100 Remington Genesis that I got off of Cabelas bargain cave. Then i have my ole knight at a backup. Both shoot 2" group at 100 yards. Good enough for me. 2 777 pellets and 200 grain shockwaves out of both.

I would recommend a savage ml2, but with a smokeless conversion .45, you can shoot a .45 bullet at 3000+fps and doesnt have half the recoil. If price wasn't an option and you had a few weeks for work to be done on it, thats the way to go.

It's good to clean your guns anyway if you take care of them they will take care of you. I would stay away from Knight and the savage smokeless if i were you that's just my opinion.

LMAO.....You Gotta be kidding me!
I have owned the CVA,Knight,Encore and the Savage .....There is no comparison. The Savage hands down is the best over the counter ML for your money without getting into the high $$$ custom types such as the Bad Bull which runs $3000 to $4000 or more depending on model and in my opinion they are not as user friendly as the Savage. I was shooting the Savage b/4 most people ever even heard of it.
