Been pondering on different techniques and things we've tried. Growing up in Virginia, if someone in the family killed a buck, we would cut the tarsal glands off and use them during our next few hunts. Just hang them up or use as a drag going in. I was young but remember my dad, uncle, and cousin having good luck using them. Anybody else tried this?

Yes we do and It works very well, it works best when you use them on a different piece of property than where you killed the buck from.

I put gland in spray bottle fill with hot hot water works good

I have the tarsals from my last buck in the freezer now maybe I will take em to the WMA or another place I can hunt to introduce a "new buck" to the area. Never tried it before...

I tried something new this year... I cut mine off like I always do but I salted them and dried them out now no need to freeze

Yep works great! When they start drying out I add tinks 69 to the.OH WAIT SCENT DOSENT WORK. Sorry about that.

Exactly. The bucks in the area already know the buck that was just killed. Use tarsals from a buck "unknown" in the area.
