Is this an open refuge to duck hunt from? If so, how fair is it? I live literally 3-5 minutes outside of the bottom and would love to start hunting it.

I have hunted it several times the last few years! Some days i have seen trucks lined down both sides of the road and some times i was the only one there. We had some good days and bad.

Its not a refuge. It is open the same as the statewide season. As a duck hunting destination it is fair to poor.

We did go and had quite a few flyovers, but we didn't see anything like 80-100 ducks. We did go in the evening, would a morning hunt be productive?

We had good our best hunts there in the morning. It seemed to be more like a roost hole than anything. Killed very few mallards. Mainly wood ducks and hoods.

The South Fork WMA holds a ton of birds at most times during the season and a whole lot of birds are killed off of it, but the walk is killer. It is about a one mile walk to just about any good hole in that bottom. I have walked in there many mornings and killed a lot of ducks, but it is not worth the effort to me anymore. Spring creek can be great. If I lived closer to it I would hunt it alot more. Just have to be patient
