^ With that being said, how can such an outrageous expenditure even be an option? Time to have a basic budget meeting.

It boils down to this: You, and you only are the man of the house. You make the decision that best suits the family, taking into consideration the opinion/suggestion of your wife. When the discussion is complete, make a decision, AND STAND BY IT! Let them know this is the way its going to be, no further discussions on the issue. Things may get tough for a while, and you better be prepared to handle it. Is your family attending church? Do you have a pastor/clergy that you can speak to?

Add u pwhat you've spent to keep stepson on the road, insurance, gas, cost of the cars, everything. Make them aware of how much Crash has cost you for the less than two years. Tell them that you're done, finished, selling your stuff to keep him on the road. Let his mother (she isn't acting like your wife) know that she can find another job if Junior's poor driving is worth forty hours a week of her time. Let them stew, moan, biotch, whatever, just refuse to pay for Crash to wreck another car.
As much as I hate to say this, it seems like she's willing to do whatever it takes to make Crash happy, at your expense. What's gonna happen down the road when he does something else?

Tuff situation you have going on but the answer is easy. Three accidents in three months. The insurance company considers him a HUGE risk which is exactly what he is at this point. No more vehicles for 12 months. The son wont like it at all and the wife probably wont be happy either. Its going to be inconvenient for you all but I honestly believe you could be saving his life by making him walk for a year. He is not ready or responsible enough to operate a motor vehicle on his own at this time. You should also log many many many hours in a vehicle with him over the next year to be sure he becomes a better safer driver.

A year of not driving isn't going to change his insurance costs. Wrecks stay on your record for three years.

creek I dont mean to sound hard harted as I am sorry you are in your situation as with my first wife I had some problems that were caused by the same problem. The problem is not the kid or even insurance. The problem is that God gave us men a responsibility to be the head of that family and we do not always take that responsibility. We tend to give it to the govt, wife, parents and schools. Now that you have relinquished your responsibility you will have a hard time to get it back. I would start by taking your wife out and telling her you are taking the responsibility back and first thing would be to go down to the dept of safety and pull his lisc. I know it is only for a short time but the fact is who ever signed for his lisc is responsible for him. The next thing is take him off the ins and do not let him get behind your cars. When he turns 18 he can get a car when he can afford his own ins and car that needs to be in his name. The thing he needs to know is that his actions have consequences

Here is my thought. Why should you sell your stuff and bust your rear for Him to have a car and insurance when he doesn't even work. I would not put my finances in jeapordy over this situation. Not to mention the stress and all else it causes. No car, no insurance, no fiscal responsibility on your part. You may get grief at first from them both but I would say, when y'all can pay for it, he can have it. Then I would take the money I'm saving on his insurance and car and go by myself a new gun or something( if it fits your budget). when they ask why you got a new gun say, you can have nice things and do what you want and get what you want when you have a job and can pay for it.

Not ready to operate a car at this time? No kidding. My point is that he's in for at least three years of $900+ per month premiums, IF he doesn't get in another wreck or get a ticket. I can't believe a state employee helped him keep his license in the first place.
Depending on your carrier, as long as he's living at your address and he has a license, he will have an effect on your premiums. Also keep in mind that even when he turns eighteen, if you are the one supporting him financially, you could still be in legal hot water if he should hurt or kill someone.

Hang under what law would u be liable for someone that is 18?
If anyone drives your car u can b but i would have to see the law that says u can b just because the child lives with u
