6 of one, Half dozen of the other. Same bullet choices (300 can get a little heavier) Same ammo prices (choices) 7mm might have a better ballistic coefficient. Same rifle brand/model offerings.

Ive shot deer with both. In the 7mag i used 150gr corlokts in the 300mag i used 150gr powerpoints. I prefer the 300mag.

I just bought a 300, I looked at the 7 and researched my realoading books and found the 300 to be slightly better in speed and power but not enough to make a differance. Both have enough power for anything in North America.

when in doubt, go with the 30 cal.
