The only one I ever shot in the neck got away. I shot him in the neck with a muzzleloader and knocked him down.The deer bawled and as I was trying to reload he got up and staggerd away.We had a good blood trail for about 100 yards then it dried up.The deer fully recoverd then my brother killed it on the last day of season. But keep looking the deer might be down just ahead of you!

Good to know he survived i hope mine does an maybe he will pop back out monday morning. We covered pretty much the whole property after the last blood drop but no luck

hey, it looks like he took a shot that should have killed the deer and he has not given up yet and even asked advice on the forum rather than just quitting. Nobody is a perfect shot and sometimes a deer gets away.

ive saw deer hit one way and drop in its tracks and another hit the same way and run a good bit its different every time.. dont worry about it as long as you did all you could to track him

i think it equals slang for"shaking my head" not sure though. no one would say that regarding a fellow hunter with a wounded deer. for they may be the next to loose one just for being a jerk , i dont think thats what whitetail freak ment.
