That many wrecks in that short of time, what happens when somebody gets killed or hurt really bad. When I was 16 I had to pay my truck payment and insurance. He needs a job and a reality check.

Sounds like mom is always going to take his side. Recipe for disaster. I am going through that with my kids and they are even mine, not stepkids. Just had a buddy go through that with his stepkids. He was supporting not only the stepkids but their deadbeat boyfriends and their kids as well. Did not end well for them as now mom is supporting them on her own. He gave her ultimatum and she chose the twenty-something kids over him. She will be supporting and bailing them out until the day she dies.

What would your parents have done if this was you, I know what mine would have done. Bought me a new pair of shoes, because that's all the transportation they would provide from that point on. This should be a life lesson for Jr. Mom needs to realize that, if she can't she's half your problem.

Creek..Buddy...this is a no brainer. He is DONE driving Period. My Boy is 17 and will turn 18 in JUne. He got his license about 4 months ago. We paid with Farm Bureau about $95 a month before he got license. Now we pay $242 a month. He is very into football and the weights and all that. Wants to play college ball. Now all of em do and its a big world out there. But I told him as long as he keeps grades up and works hard at ball I'll pay for insurance and all is good. When he gets lazy and the grades are down I don't pay for insurance. I may buy another vehicle before too long but right now he hardly ever drives. JMO. Good luck.

Several suggestions have been to pay the same as I paid for my daughter, now here's the story on that.
Now when my daughter started driving, we told her that she only gets one car and she had to get a job and maintain it and supply herself with gas, now she had a wreck, that was not her fault and totaled the car. She didn't get another one, she drove one of ours until she bought her own. Now my step son has had 2 cars, one of which I had to make payments on, so nothing is equal.

Thus had been an ongoing discussion here at my house for a while, and its leading nowhere, except for me going down the river of debt. It's literally breaking me. I live on a fixed income and the wife got laid off, so there is no room for error. I know if I make the decision that he is on his own with the car and insurance, the s@$! Will hit the fan.
