I have 2 kids, and the oldest is 19 now and got her own vehicle and pays her own insurance, now my step son is 17, and last Dec he back into someone in a parking lot, and last Feb 7th, he was driving to school and rear ended someone and totaled his car, and on Feb 19th, we got him another car and on Feb 21 he pulled out from a parking lot and side swiped someone. And he got a ticket on that one with failure to yield. The state made him go through defensive driving class. Well my insurance renewed last month and they cancelled him, so I searched every where for the best rates. And the cheapest I found was 900 per month. My question is, what should I do regarding this high insurance rates, I can't afford to keep paying this, it's killing me. He turns 18 in a couple weeks, but he is still in high school. What should I do?

Get him a cheap vehicle. Liability only. Only that and time will help.

Told my kids I would pay their insurance. Anything they did to increase the cost of that basic insurance would be on them. YOUR insurance did not just go up. HIS did. If you want to keep paying the original amount, let him shop around for himself. If he cannot find anything cheap enough, he walks. He rides the school bus. He makes arrangements to get to work. He has to beg rides to have fun. But most of all, he LEARNS why driving safely and within the law is so dang important.
You doing it all for him doesn't teach him squat.

He has liability only, he is rated on driving all of our vehicles. He just has a ton of points on his record. His license was supposed to been revoked for a year, cause he has 14 points, but the woman at the state said she would help him out since he was close to being 18.

after that many mishaps i would be scared to death to let him drive...

Man I know mine got to 330 a month after a major incident and i thought that was high! 900 is robbery!!

I know I can't keep paying that price, it's really hard to make ends meet as it is. When I being it up to the wife, it always turns into an argument. She said he has to drive. I'm at a loss. I'm just falling deeper into the pit of debt. I've already sold just about everything I had of any value, except the thing I had to have to get through this hunting season. I can't keep doing this and neither the wife or him seem to care
