I know the older ones were hit or miss.I've shot a few of my friends DPMS rifles (3 Sportical and 1 SASS).The SASS was the best of the bunch (but more expensive also)The Sporticals were so-so,horrible triggers on 2 of them, accuracy was fair at best, but good enough to kill deer with.I was thinking of getting one until I shot my friends.Still going to get a 308 AR it just won't be one of these.YMMV.

They had one at Wal-mart here for $917. Figured you couldn't beat it for the money. Buddy said he didn't like that it didn't have forward assist.

Lots if not most .308 ARs don't have forward assist.

I have the DPMS LR308AP4. It's an absolute tack driver. It's a tad on the heavy side. I love shooting it out to 300 yds.

Look at the Rock River LAR-8. Ive got one with the 26" bull barrel. This thing will flat out shoot. No issues whatsoever with this one. it has forward assist too. ;\)

I've never used the foward assist on the M4 that the Army lets me use, it is not needed. Unless you never clean your weapon.
