I Personally know of a single young man, age 21 who recieves benefits. His is over $250 per month. That calculates to $2.77 per meal for 90 meals in a month.
Anyone who tries could easily eat for $2.77 per meal.
1 weeks benefit = $62.50
2 loaves bread = $5
2 pounds lunch meat = $10
20 pounds potatoes = $10
10 pounds rice = $10
Even after these staple purchases, there still is $27.5 for other things.
I know its hard for some people out there, BUT most have a reality problem, (or expectation problem) to think this is not enough food. IT IS, just maybe not what they want.
When I was growing up, my Aunt was on welfare, and back then she had to go pick up items, they provided cheese, flour, sugar, rice..etc.. And her kids "wouldnt eat it" by her own words.
Long story short, my Mom would trade her 1 lb velveeta for her 5 lb govt. cheese. Which we ate, because we were made to.
My family of four makes it on around 400-500 per month now.

I could not agree more! Starvation, or the threat of it, can be a very powerful motivator. The problem is, no one has the guts to make a serious push for ending it on the fear that they will be labeled racist and uncaring.
