Lowering rifle down when pin holding sling on broke. Rifle fell straight down, muzzle up and hit right on the butt. Perfect scenario to get shot. Glad it was unloaded and glad I have another rifle.
Gun was undamaged but of course, I have no idea if the scope is on. It was my Savage so I can go back to the Parker-Hale I have been shooting.
Don't know if I will go tomorrow or not. Have a bad sore throat. It has been a tradition with me to hunt on TG morning and I have killed a couple or three good deer then. But I don't really need another deer and I sure don't need a sore throat. Guess I'll just wait and see how I feel manana.

Glad you unloaded it and you are safe.
Good practice to get into - unload before lowering.
