Got a new place to hunt this year in Bulls Gap and was wondering what time of year the rut really gets cranked up. I hunted yesterday morning and seen a small 6pt checking a doe. He harrased her for about 15 minutes and she had no interest in what he had to offer! I'm assuming that it would be over the course of the next week and a half with peak breeding being late next week to the beginning of December.

You should be spot on. But then again even in the best years around here you can still go and see ten does and not see a buck. I plan on being in a tree the next three mornings in Bulls Gap.

I hunt in and around there and drive those roads everyday. VERY LITTLE buck activity so far. Does still grouped up, bucks still together. the rut seems to be a week or two behind where it was alst year.
