I'm just wondering when the rut will be here. I have seen one small buck chasing the opening day of ml. Now I have seen nothing but does a a buck or two here and there. A buddy of my killed Sunday and the bucks neck wasn't swell but his glands were turning dark.

I haven't seen the first buck chase yet, however I killed a big 3.5 y/o 8pt this past weekend and he had puncture wounds on his face and neck from fighting and had worn a good amount of hair off his brisket from mounting does.. Not sure what's up with the rut this year.

That only proves the bucks were ready, not that the rut peaked. There is only one way to know when the rut peaked and that is by doing a fetal development study.

the bucks are ready as soon as they are in hard antler. the does were being very cooperative.
