Going to do a skull mount this weekend using the boiling method and high strength peroxide stuff from the cosmetology section. Any suggestions or tips?

Make sure you boil it outside the smell is aweful, add some sodium carbonate to the water it will cut the boiling process down to about an hour.you can find it at Home Depot in the pool & hottub section, good luck

Thanks, I will post pics of the process, planning on this weekend. Going to use my shrimp boil/turkey frier pot outside. Thanks for all the advice.

Just in case you've never done this before make sure you keep from the antler burr up the antlers out of the boiling water. The boiling and grease in the water will discolor any portion of the antler left in the water.

I boiled the head over the weekend, it was easier in some areas than I expected but more difficult in others. I ended up boiling it for 5 hours and it came alot cleaner that i expected actually. The skinning part was harder than I expected but I did not allow it to thaw fully before I started so alot of that was my fault. I was planning on using the 40% peroxide over the weekend but i have ran into trouble getting that. I figured I could just pick some up anywhere but it seems a licensed cosmotologist has to buy it so I have my wife working her friends now. I should be done with it this week or next and I will get some pics on here, got some pretty cool ideas for the plaque board.
