I've been hunting this thick stuff where I hardly have a shot first off. The thing is this seems to be a major intersection but all I've seen is does and yearlings. Seems like a new set every other hour coming and heading in all directions.Should I stick it out for a big boy or just tag one of these does and move on. Its hard to move away when your seeing 9-10 deer in the mornings and almost that in the evenings. This is my 3rd sit here this year. What should I do???
Lord what a bless'n.

Drop one of the does in her tracks if it is legal to kill a doe there. Then leave her for the rest of the sit and see if a buck smells her and gets curious. If you can drop one that is in heat, that is the best bait out there this time of year.

First off that is mature forest compared to some of the thick stuff i hunt :). If i was hunting there and seeing 10 deer per day i absolutely would not shoot one right now they have to come in heat

I bow hunted thick stuff like that on friday and although I didn't have any young bucks I did have a lot of does, fawns, and 2 older bucks morning and evening. I'd say keep hunting it, looks good.

If you are seeing does, dit on it. Its just a matter of time.

You don't have to hunt it every time you go out, but I would definitely be in that area when the rut lights up for your area.

Have you seen evidence of bucks chasing yet? An up-tick in scrape activity, or anything else?

If the does are moving through there, then the bucks will likely be heading through as well when the time gets right.

Perhaps you've found a honey hole that primarily attracts the ladies. In the future, that might mean that you hunt elsewhere when buck hunting in the early part of the season, but concentrate on it more so during the peak of the chasing phase of the rut.

You ought to be getting close to prime time right now though (week of Thanksgiving is usually pretty good), so I'd stick with it in the short term!

I wouldn't shoot a doe just yet. If they are coming through as regularly as you say, then you will have many more opportunities. In my years of deer hunting... I have found that the deer are usually where the deer are. Regardless of buck or doe, if there is a real popular funnel or crossing, its just a matter of time for bruiser to come through.
I used to be indecisive. Now I'm not sure.
