I should not be concerned but I am at the number of stories I am hearing of bad shots with both archery and firearms. It may just be me but it seems as though there are more than usual this year and not just from entry level hunters.
Please hunters, take your time and pick your shots carefully no matter what equipment you are using.

I don't think it's more than normal. You are seeing the influence of public forums. People are just displaying bad shots more openly. Each year will always seem to be worse than the last. jmo

Of all the shots I heard yesterday morning, 3/4 of them where boom, boom, boom. Not many single shots.

Getting a deer is not so important to me that I'm willing to take a marginal shot and wound a deer. Would rather have the memory of the one I let walk then the memory of one that was wounded.
My bragging right doesn't come from how many I've killed. It comes from the fact that so far I've taken shots that put the deer down almost immediately.

I totally agree with your logic, and I feel the same way. Unfortunately, a lot of folks only learn one way - the hard way.
Until someone deals with the junk that goes along with making a bad shot, all they feel is the pressure to capitalize on their opportunity (even if it's marginal). Some folks want a success story so bad, they can't stand it.
When you can go in the woods, be presented with an opportunity, and be able to balance the pressure to succeed with the pressure to make good decisions, *THEN* you are on your way to becoming a mature hunter (or a mature person in general!).
Lots of folks won't understand that until they've experienced the bad side as well as the good side.

If you shoot enough deer, especially if you bowhunt, you are going to lose some. What I have no patience for is the folks taking any shot they can instead of waiting for the good shot and those who really should not be in the woods until they learn to shoot and have the equipment sighted in.
There is no doubt in my mind, I am seeing and hearing about more lost deer this year than I can recall hearing before.
