My brother and I were talking about the antlerless non-quota hunt for rifle season. The way I read it for Claiborne county is that you can take 2 does, one now and then one after Christmas. He says I am wrong . How do you all read it?

The Claiborne Co Antlerless Deer Non-Quota Hunts are divided into 2 segments. The first is Dec 17-23, and the seconds runs from Dec 24 - Jan 6. Limit is one doe for each segment. This info can be found on page 26 in the 2012-2013 Hunting Guide. You will need a Type 94 Special Season Permit, unless you meet one of the exceptions listed in the Hunting Guide.

Totally correct!

In addition, your one doe limit for the first segment DOES NOT carry over to the second segment.

Out of curiosity, what made you think you could kill an antlerless deer right now in Claiborne Co?

Hey encore I just noticed you were in Harrogate, I am down the valley in Red Hill. I work over toward Clairfield in Valley Creek. I have seen quite a few hunters come by so far this year but no big bucks like there normally is.

Cause I had a senior moment, LOL. I hate when that happens. I saw December and read dec and my mind said November. Sheesh, it's a wonder they let me out by myself.

You're not far from me, as I live off Pearman Rd. I'm seeing a lot of small bucks still running together, as well as packs of does. Hopefully within the next 1-2 weeks the bigger bucks will be cruising more.

Thank you. I was just making sure that we hadn't put something somewhere that was causing some confusion.

I well know about senior moments!
